Hi, I’m Dave, a brand strategist and digital marketer. I am equal parts artist and scientist, creating brand identities supported by beautiful digital media assets optimized for conversions. My experience rests at the intersection of digital media production, technology, psychology, and analytics.
In my mid-teens I had to figure out how to promote my band (and build a brand) on this crazy new thing called the internet. That was the start of a lifelong passion for digital marketing and media production. For the past 15 years I have provided expert branding, marketing, and content creation services ranging from strategic planning to hands on execution for clients ranging from individuals and start-ups to major broadcast networks and Fortune 100 Enterprises, as both an individual contributor at various companies including Ramp and The Pulse Network, and as the Creative Director at Heavy Digital, my remote digital agency.
Web and video are the mediums I prefer to work in, and I love projects where I can bridge the gap between business, technology, and art.
One of my most memorable projects in recent years was the Save Your CEO campaign, an omnichannel video-driven brand-awareness campaign. Along with hands-on involvement with everything from scripting and casting to art direction, post-production, and distribution, I lead a team comprised of seasoned marketers, creatives, and film industry veterans in the production of broadcast-quality :30 commercials, featuring John O’Hurley as the CEO. The campaign, along with Ramp Innovations, a multi-day customer event held at the InterContinental Boston (which I also co-produced), ultimately lead to the successful acquisition of Ramp’s Media Industry Business Unit by Cxense ASA to the tune of $10mm, while racking up over 87,000 views on the Save Your CEO YouTube channel.
Other notable projects at Ramp included the design and development of various web properties, including ramp.com
and Ramp Connect.
I overhauled and conversion-optimized the Ramp website, with the plugging of these leaky funnels resulting in notable increases not only in lead volume, but also lead quality. Tire kickers turned into qualified leads with strong buyers intent, and automating significant aspects of our sales and marketing funnel enabled Ramp to do more with a small team.
I was also responsible for the development of Ramp Connect, a customer and partner portal with deep integrations to various business systems, designed to be a one-stop shop for customers to download software and access support, and allow partners to receive training and register leads. This platform was developed using free software and fully customized to the needs of the business, resulting in a savings of over $45k a month over a comparable off the shelf solution.
Besides the projects listed above, I have experience with everything from designing booths and displays for prestigious events such as NAB and Microsoft Ignite, to being Director of Photography on segments for national broadcast, like ABC’s The Chew. (I’ve even shot in America’s Test Kitchen!)
My home is a perpetually haunted Victorian in Boston MA, where I live with my cats Grey Man and Grill Man. In my free time I enjoy working on my eCommerce business, maintaining a feral cat colony, and creating and consuming horror in a variety of forms.
